Chicago is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. The city has so much to offer travelers who enjoy architecture and great energy. The downtown skyline is a collage of modern and classical buildings that tower over the famous Chicago river. The city sits right on the sore of Lake Michigan, which brings in freezing winds during the winter. Luckily I visited “The Windy City” in the Summer when the weather was perfect out. So many people were active, riding bikes through the park and hanging out at the beach. The energy that surrounded the city was impressive. The locals seemed so happy and excited to have warm weather.
The Air BnB we stayed at was 10 miles outside of the city so we chose rental bikes as our main source of transportation. The weather was perfect out so we rode into downtown each day on a bike path that followed the coast of Lake Michigan. We rode through Linkin Park, down to Navy Pear for lunch and then across to Millennium Park to see the Bean. So many tourists packed the park but we were all so excited. The energy was contagious
There was no way we could go to Chicago without going to a Cubs game. We bought the cheapest tickets to the Saturday night game we could find and figured we could just walk around and see the game from all parts of the stadium. When we got inside, our plan went perfectly. The stadium was beautifully aged with its steel columns in the bleachers and ivy cover outfield wall. I felt like I had traveled back in time to watch a baseball game 50 years prior. We watched each inning in a different part of the stadium and always looked out for a spot near the Chicago dog vendor. The Cubs won the game, so that meant Wrigleyville would be packed with fans after the game. The bars surrounded the stadium served as a great spot for our nightcap.
